Film: Rule of thirds/ Lines.

I used this photo for an assignment showing the rule of thirds. I think it works because the fence lines intersect at the correct point. I also am happy with the fact that Herbert and the fence are kind of the same color and blend in a little. 

This is a photo of my dog Sam crossing the cattle guard in front of my house. I used it for the lines assignment because of the way the shadow from the dog make interesting lines and shapes which really helps the composition.

Film: Shallow/ Great Depth of field

I am happy with the way this photo turned out, I used a larger aperture to blur the background. The texture of the tree came out very nice and really helps this photograph work. 

This photo is not my favorite. Its relatively dull had has little to no subject matter. Its supposed to show great depth of field but for some reason it is unfocused . 

FIlm- Portraits and Getting Close

 This is probably the billionth portrait of my dog. I am pleased with this photo because it has some personality to it. Even though it is centered, I think it works because it has a slight A-symmetry because of the way her head is tilted.

This is a photograph of an old tractor that sits in the back of our yard. I used it for getting close because I thought it had unique lines and would be an interesting subject choice. 

Film: Stop Action and Motion Blur

This is a motion blur photo of my dog Sam. He kind of looks like a bunny. I kind of took this photo on accident, but its really hard to capture motion blur on film, so i'm not super happy with it, but I'm glad I finally got one that is passable enough to turn in.

This is a stop action photo of my dog Herbert.  I used a fast shutter speed to freeze the action. Some details were lost in the scanning process. I like the contrast between his fur and his little dog sweater. 

Getting Close

I chose this photo for the getting close assignment, obviously, I got close to this tree and snapped a photo.  I am happy with this photo because aswell as being close to the subject, it also shows texture and line.

 

I chose to use this photo aswell for the getting close assignment, I enjoy the freezing flower in the cold temperature, showing that spring in Virginia is just a myth. Unfortunatley for the flower, it did not make it very long in this weather. I feel as if the pop of yellow really attracts the eye to the flower.

Texture/ Hands-Feet/Portraits

I chose to use this photo for the texture assigment because I thought it showed a frosty icey texture. This photo is of a bottle lantern thing hanging on my porch. I really dont like this photo very much, but hey, its all I got.

 This is a photo of my dog, Sam, playing in the snow, I chose to use it for the texture progect because his hair is fluffy and the snow also has a unique texture.

 I used this photo for the hands and feet assignments. Its a selfie of sorts because no one in my family will cooperate with me. I kinda like it because it isnt a direct photograph of my feet.

 This is a photograph of Sam the dog, I used it for the hands and feet assigment because of his little paw prints on the concrete. I feel as if having the paws and the paw prints in the same frame really ties the composition together.

 This is a portrait of my dog Herbert, I don't even know if it counts as a portrait. (I know I only take dog photos most of the time, but thats because I really lack subject matter in my household.) I really like his little touge on his nose, I think it adds some interest.

In a scramble to take portraits before the due date, and with the fact that the people in my household are 'camera shy' on the way out the door my other poodle/dog/thing scratched on my leg and I took a picture. I think it works for portrairs.
